CMDB (Coastal), is a joint venture partnership between two regional firms, Smith Warner International and CMS, known for their ability to deliver cost effective, innovative and environmentally positive solutions in Coastal Engineering Design and Marine Construction across the Caribbean Region.

Coastal was specifically formed to give developers a one stop shop for turn key, fixed price coastal works. Projects are value engineered from very start through the partnership between design engineer and contractor.

Our Changing Environment
Sea surface temperatures continue to rise with adverse effects and more frequent Category 4 and 5 hurricanes. Therefore, climate change projections are part of our design protocol.

Choosing the most effective protection from erosion is key to long term environmental management.
Seawalls, Breakwaters, Groynes, revetments, ground improvement, piling and surface water management are used to reflect, refract and dissipate wave energy and reduce coastal erosion creating a new more sheltered environment in which we can re-nourish or build beaches and install coastal infrastructure.
We have designed and/or built structures throughout the region. This experience allows us to identify useful innovations and find solutions to even the most challenging coastal engineering problems, working within all environmental regulations and international design specifications and tolerances.

Marine Sheet Piling
We specialise in Vinyl Sheet Pile installation to stabilise the land/sea interface, where their high resistance to corrosion and long life make an ideal solution to the very high rates of chemical and biological degradation that we experience in Caribbean waters.
Sand Supply & Nourishment
We supply the right sand for beach enhancement or new beach development.
The right grain size is critical for long-term beach stability, the right colour is important for marketing and the texture and feel can impact guest experience and turtle nesting.
We only supply the finest quality and most appropriate sand from locations that are licensed for export, from Guyana and the Bahamas.
We dredge for beach sand, create access channels to marinas, provide maintenance to a canal or berthing areas and lay outfall and intake pipes to the sea. We offer innovative dredging solutions, such as hydraulic or mechanical dredging for nearshore and onshore applications.
